(TDA) attention deficit disorder and Attention/hyperactivity (ADHD) disorder include a set of symptoms including inattention, hyperactivity and impulsive behaviors. The term ADD has practically been replaced with ADHD, since it includes two of the most common symptoms of the condition, that is, inattention and impulsive hyperactive behaviour.
Only children who are faced with the inattention and hyperactive or impulsive behaviors all the time are deemed to be ADHD. For example, if these symptoms are displayed at the school and not at home or vice versa, they are considered not to have the disorder. Unfortunately, this is where most of the diagnosis occurs.
Perhaps the aspect the more difficult to deal with a child, a teenager or a joint not knowing what is at the origin of the behavior disturbing and especially not knowing how to help. Unfortunately, most of the experts are also perplexed as everyone and it should come as a surprise.
However, there are many plausible theories:
A theory is a genetic predisposition, and studies attempt to ADHD linked to specific genes (1) current. From my point of view, based on the science and research, gene expression so far and wide more important and valuable as genetic predisposition, but will leave us this topic for another article at a later date. Another theory is the exposure to environmental toxins. A study conducted in 2006 linked use of the mother of cigarettes, alcohol or other drugs increases the chances of ADHD in her child. They have also linked the increased risk of ADHD in exposure to lead and smoking during pregnancy (2). It should also surprise absolute.
As is typical of the medical model, nutrition is often ignored as a factor that contributes. Being a chiropractor Kanata cannot make me an expert on this particular topic, but it is my opinion that NUTRITION may hold the key to treating ADHD! It is not an expert to tell us that food choices today for children and adults are extremely poor. Is it really possible to expect abnormal behaviour of a child that is fed, lack of a better term, shit? These features of abnormal behaviour of what medical experts more refers to signs and symptoms of ADHD! There are many literature out there which support the hypothesis that refined cereals, sugars, processed foods full of chemicals, the juice, and soft drinks create very behavioural traits. My question is: what happened to pure water as a source of fluids for our children? We must also take into account the decreasing amount of vegetables and Omega 3 in most of the plans of our children. Vegetables provide the body with essential vitamins and nutrients we need for the survival and functioning of the brain of the Omega 3 support, the metabolism of sugar in the blood and the development of the child, to name a few. It is impossible to have a healthy functioning and the development of brain without the essential ingredients that it requires to do.
If we turn to the highly recognized research of Dr. Lendon Smith, who died some time ago, we find that he had been properly treat and relieve the symptoms of ADHD with dietary interventions and nutrition for decades. What happened continued his work after his death is debatable. He went into account that drugs, like Ritalin were not the answer for ADHD from the outset, which I think should always be considered in today's society before it is so radically distributed to children. For years, drug companies have been producing various drugs to try to contain this epidemic growth. It is not a secret that pharmaceutical companies have produced massive amounts of medication to treat ADHD, major players, Ritalin ®, Concerta ®, Adderall ® and Strattera ® prior even to consider changing the nutritional elements of the mode of life of the child.
Stay tuned! In a later article we will examine the effects that these same drugs have on the body and the level of activity of our children. Until then, I invite you to take a look at the diet of your children and ensure that they receive a host of nutrients appropriate they need for survival, growth and maturity.
