Lift and carry heavy objects are a regular part of many daily jobs. Workers are put warnings on the dangers of improper lifting and how to lift and carry safely: bend your knees, use your legs raise not your back, never bend or twist your body, etc. Signs of security surrounding these workplaces constantly reminding workers how to protect their spine and use proper lifting techniques.

The majority of us, raise us, transport and twist regularly in our daily lives, but without the constant security reminders. We lift and carry babies, backpacks, bags of groceries, and according to our way of life. We are not always aware of our own health when lifting daily and we probably aren't can't attention to the rules of lifting and execution.

To help you achieve the best of lifting and carrying practices in your daily routine, chiropractors, doctors of chiropractic, have some general recommendations for you below.

Grocery store

If you are grocery for some articles, it is tempting to take the basket in hand rather than a push cart. If you get only a few light elements, you're probably okay carry the basket of the hand. The best way to carry the basket is to keep the handle with both hands, centred close to your chest. Avoid hanging either side carriers at the wrist. Ultimately, chiropractors recommend that you go forward and that you use the push cart even if you think that you are only going to get some light elements. Admittedly, very often these elements extend to other articles and the next thing you know that you attempt to run the whole soccer team dinner in your basket of hand. OUCH, imagine the strain on your spine.

Babies and toddlers

We are not likely to stop lifting our babies, the holding and twisting them in our arms, but if remember us some simple rules, we can keep our back strong and healthy, even with the baby in tow. We know say not their little eyes is simply not an option. First of all, if you have any current back or neck pain, avoid lift and hold the baby until you have seen your chiropractor to have your spine verified. If taking a baby or a toddler will be a regular presence for you, working on strengthening the core muscles (abdominals, back, hips) so that you have a solid, solid foundation with which to support the child. Make sure you you spine aligned and adjusted and holding near child of your Centre (torso) is better. More from your Center, more stress on your joints and back. A chiropractor can help you customize a fitness program to strengthen your heart.

Backpacks

If you carry a backpack of the book, beach or at camping backpack or even your baby in a backpack, make sure that you use a backpack which is as light as possible but sufficiently solid to handle the work. Get a pack with adjustable shoulder straps and then take the time to adjust the straps to your specifications. Make sure that the weight of your precious cargo is distributed across your back and hips. Weight is to look from one side or the other can be the body of alignment causing unnecessary wear. Weight is too high or low can cause pressure and pain in the back, neck and shoulders. If the weight is always uncomfortable or feel too heavy even after the adjustment of your backpack, chiropractors recommend a backpack on rollers with a handful of switching, or spend your baby in a Landau.
