Bruxism is the medical terminology for teeth clenching or teeth grinding. Most parents can hear their children during their sleep or gnashing of teeth grinding. This is common in children in which the jaws are closed during deep sleep. This can be caused by stress, especially in hyperactive children. In some cases, the teeth grinding can be default cause of tooth alignment or perhaps to relieve the pain of an emerging tooth. Nevertheless most of the children will catch up with this and it will eventually go away.

However, there are negative effects of teeth grinding which can cause irritation of the gums and teeth. Teeth grinding can also cause a tooth to break or chip which are the causes of the sensitivity of the teeth. This will then expose the root in the tooth and will also cause tooth decay. Other causes of this condition include medical conditions such as cerebral palsy. But the most common reason for this is even emphasized that most of the experts can not yet pin point the main cause of this condition.

What most of the experts observed is that children who are under great tension or anger will face grinding during their sleep of the teeth. It's an unconscious behavior is invited by stressful activities carried out during the day. A quarrel with a brother or even worry about the school examinations can cause this. For adults, teeth grinding or jaw clenching can be observed by individuals who are lifting weights in the gym or work room still. Lifting heavy weights can lead to serious teeth and gum problems and can be avoided by using a mouth guard.

Children who experience bruxism may go unnoticed. Some bruxism symptoms include jaw sore, pain on the face in the morning, pain while chewing and grinding sounds during sleep. If your child is experiencing these symptoms, consult your dentist which may then be able to recommend a toe for the worst case. They can also check for any damage to the teeth caused by teeth grinding.

Yet for some, treatment can be just as simple to help your child relax during the time of sunset. Perhaps take a warm bath or read fairytales will help their spirits remain far from a stressful experience or an activity during the day. However, in most cases, teeth grinding disappear when children lose obtain their permanent teeth. But if your child will always have difficulty with bruxism, consult a physician or dentist may also be a symptom of other medical conditions that will need different treatment which may not be related to dental or oral proceedings.

We often do a lot of things to take good care of our body, but not also generally forget our teeth despite the importance good oral hygiene is. If you live in the Portland, Oregon area and are looking for a Portland dentist or Beaverton dentist you can find in the directory of dentist of Oregon.
